KiwiCo was founded in 2011 by Sandra Oh Lin, Yael Pasternak Valek, and Yu Pan. It has locations in Mountain View and Los Altos, California.
KiwiCo is a subscription service that provides customers with educational and artistic projects and supplies for kids of all ages ranging from zero months to 104 years old. KiwiCo is made up of a team of engineers, rocket scientists, and educators providing over 10 million crates of fun and more made every day. These crates include projects based on STEAM learning. STEAM stands for Science Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. The crates are designed with specific age groups in mind. Ages zero to 36 months start with the Tadpole crate to explore and discover. Ages 3-4 years can move to the Koala crate which are activities to play and learn. Ages 5-8 can get the Kiwi crate which is science, art, and more. Ages 6-11 can get the Atlas crate that covers geography and culture. Ages 9-16+ can get the Doodle or Tinker crates. The Doodle crate includes techniques for art and design, while the Tinker crate is aimed at science and engineering. Finally, the Eureka crate focuses on engineering and design for ages 14-104.
KiwiCo offers free shipping throughout the United States. All crate memberships cost $49.95 for three months, except the Eureka crate which is $74.95 for three months. The Eureka crate membership can also be purchased for $139.95 for six months and gives the customer one month free, or $269.95 for 12 months, giving the customer three months free. All other crate memberships may be purchased at $94.95 for six months with one month free, or $179.95 for 12 months with three months free. There is no commitment and customers may switch crate memberships at any time. Customers may also choose more than one crate membership.
