Amazon Drive, formerly known as Amazon Cloud Drive, is a cloud storage option offered by Amazon, which opened originally in 1994 and is headquartered in Seattle, Washington, and Arlington, Virginia. Amazon Drive first launched in Spring 2011, with tiered storage plans offered on a pay-as-you-need basis at launch. At launch, users paid only for the storage they needed and used with plans expandable up to a total of 1 terabyte of usable space per user. From 2015 through 2017, unlimited storage plans were offered before being reverted by Amazon in favor of the current model.
A limited file-type storage option is currently offered in Brazil and China only. For US and Canadian customers, however, the current plans are available for storage and backup of photos and videos. Three storage plans are currently offered for this purpose. Prime subscribers receive an Amazon Drive plan included with their monthly or annual Prime subscription membership. Prime Drive plans include unlimited storage for photos and 5 GB of storage for videos. For those who do not have Prime or those who need or want more storage, 2 plans are offered. The 100 GB Amazon Drive plan includes 100 GB of total storage space, for $11.99 per year. A 1 terabyte of total storage space plan is also available for $59.99 per year. Photos do not count toward the used space for Prime members on either of the paid storage plans. Drive subscriptions will renew automatically each year unless cancelled but may be cancelled at any time. More information on how to cancel your Amazon Drive subscription is included on this page to assist you.
